Our Story…

On June 30th 2023 a lifelong dream came true to own a farm with forest, a historical house, a place to have my pets and livestock, a place to expand my gardening abilities and reach, a place to make my own, to have more room for my artwork and crafts, a place friends and family could experience nature and farm life.

In the beginning it was just myself and my Borzoi, Jordi and my freshwater fish tank moving in onto a little over 17 acres with an established Koi pond and decades of thorns, weeds, and poison ivy. I also moved an entire Penske Truck of garden container plants.

It took many months to clear, repair, install, and electrify fences and clean and repair and rebuild part of the barn. In late November 2023, a pair of miniature donkeys, Lenor & Mona came home for a month of quarantine. A few days before the new year, my 18 year old Quarter Horse gelding, Damien, finally came home and met his new friends.

I have slowly been working on turning a large portion of a 1 acre fallow pasture into my future garden complex. On February 20th 2024 I was forced to have spine surgery, but my gardening plans are ever expanding and I should be in tip top shape for planting season. The garden will have a mixture of container plants, in-ground planting and raised beds (both using No Dig methods). I also have started making my own compost. This is all in addition to the rather hectic and very long hours working as a veterinarian.

In addition to a future produce stand on the property, I already have an online craft, art, jewelry, and quilting presence on etsy and ebay which will be transitioned into the Sow Sew Farm LLC “brand”.

The property has an ancient peach tree and two pear trees. March 2024 will see the arrival of a Ranier Cherry tree, Bing Cherry tree, McIntosh apple tree, Granny Smith apple tree, Ruby Grand nectarine tree, and June Gold peach tree. In April a Spice Zee Necta-Plum tree will arrive.

I grow several gourmet types of garlic, potatoes, onions, herbs, tomatoes, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, many many types of peppers, and more. I enjoy saving seeds and choosing produce to grow based on flavor over anything else.

Plans for the future include duck eggs, and one day raising pigs and likely sheep and/or goats.

I make jewelry with polymer clay and antique and Czech glass beads, vinyl art, quilts, Christmas stockings and seasonal ornaments, vinyl graphic t-shirts, and dog collars (primarily martingale-types).
